Accent table

The base of this breakfast or patio table is intended to reflect the indirect light from the under-mount lighting (mouse over for photo) that rings the lower edge. The legs are made of steel and hammered copper leafs riveted and strapped together. The terra-cotta colored table features an inlaid copper silhouette of a heron, with back-lit glass beads adorning the edges. This table is one of several inspired by Ian's interest in incorporating indirect lighting in his pieces and experimenting with texture. In his quest to combine practicality and sculpture, he refers to these tables as "ambience pieces" that reveal their subtle beauty after dark.

This table was recently chosen for top honours from over 80 entries for "Best Decorative Finish" by Fu Tung Cheng at the 2006 World Of Concrete in Las Vegas. (more...)

Bench

Several of concrete's virtues are showcased in this bench, including its ability to be molded, integrally colored, inlaid with personal objects and ground to expose the aggregate in varying degrees. Different versions of this bench can be seen in the showroom of Gillingham Cabinets on Boys road in Duncan, B.C., or in Palladian's executive showhome in Nanaimo's Hawthorne Estates, summer 2006 (Near N.D.S.S. High School). This model could also serve as a table, if fitted with a different base.

Custom made tables

We design and fabricate all of the metal bases for our benches and tables, often using forging techniques and recycled or re-used metal. Outdoor bases are powdercoated for lasting protection. Custom wooden bases can also be crafted by local furniture makers.
